Mr. Claude Donald “Don” Peacock, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise with Dr. Michael Mynatt and Reverend Roger Becks officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12:30 PM and continuing until service time. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Atmore, Alabama, (across from 1862 Peacock Lane, Little Rock, Alabama) on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 3:00 PM with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.
Don was born September 10, 1937, to the late Claude J. and Inez Cruit Peacock. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Afterwards he began a Civil Service career at Fort Rucker where he worked until he retired August 3, 1995. After retirement, he began a second career with the USDA and received the NASDA Enumerator of the Year Award in 2016 and the 2018 USDA National Agriculture Statistics Service Field Supervisor Award. Don was also a life-long member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise where he served as a Deacon for many years, receiving the Deacon Emeritus Award on September 24, 2023. In addition, he served on the finance committee and chaired numerous building programs, inspiring the congregation to give generously beyond their regular tithes and offerings.
In his free time Don enjoyed pulling for the Alabama Crimson Tide and playing golf. In December of 1980 he shot a 135 yard hole-in-one and received the Wilson Award for this feat.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his in-laws, Melvin D. and Lena P. Folmar, grandson, Adam B. Curenton, and son-in-law, Timothy K. Curenton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Laura F. Peacock; children, Cynthia Medley (Ricky), Bryan Peacock (Kristina), and Stacey Hogan (Les); sister-in-law, Kathy McKinley (Danny); grandchildren, Aaron Curenton (Nicole), Ashley Davis (Brock), Hunter Peacock, Dawson Peacock, David Peacock, Ella Hogan, Caleb Poarch, Hub Hogan, Connor Poarch, and John David Hogan; and great-grandchildren, Sawyer Curenton, Andison Davis, Eli Camden Davis, Owen Pryor Davis, and Baby Boy Slade Curenton on the way in December 2025; niece, Jessie Stephens (Bradley); great-nieces, Clara and Katherine Stephens.
