Christy Dawn Shaw

Christy Dawn Shaw, age 20, of Opp, Alabama, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025. Memorialization will be by cremation, with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.

Christy was a member of the Elba Church of Christ. She was known for her strong will and determination, always having a plan and working hard to fulfill it. At the time of her passing, she was working full-time and continuing to set meaningful goals for her life and future. Her progress was a source of pride for both herself and those who loved her.

Christy had a deep love for people, especially her nephew Asher, who many thought belonged to her and changed her life in great ways. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: riding down dirt roads, casting a line to fish, and especially spending time at the beach, her favorite place to be. Brett Dennen’s song Wild Child could have been written for her!

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers and her great-grandparents. She is survived by her parents, Aaron Ross (Edena) and Terri Shaw; siblings McKayla Phillips (Kody), Leah Chadwick, Steven Shaw, Emma Gentry, Maddie Gentry (Alonso Wesley), Wesley Gentry, and Chyenne Reese (James). She is also survived by nieces and nephews that she loved like they were her own: Asher, Delilah, Da’Khari, Nevaeh, Lavonte, Devontae, and Xavier. She also leaves behind her grandmothers Beth Shaw and Lynn Moates as well as aunts and uncles. All of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
