Mr. Chancey Thanyel “C. T.” Singleton, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025. He was 95 years old.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise with Dr. Olivia Poole officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Old Center Methodist Church Cemetery, 764 County Road 89 Newville, Alabama, with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 PM and continuing until service time.
Mr. Singleton was born in Houston County on May 11, 1930, to the late Sherry Bob and Vera Singleton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Clifton Singleton (Merle), Quay Singleton (Lucy), and John Singleton (Florene); and sisters, Mary Robinson (Hershel), Beth Ellis (Leo), Tempie Roberts (Clarence), and Billie Sue Deese (Jack).
C. T. was a man who embodied the American spirit. He loved God, his family, and country. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Navy, and went on to serve in the US Air Force, Army Reserves, and the Army National Guard for a total of 21 years. For 38 years C. T. worked Fort Rucker as a supervisor of production control. In his later years he also worked for the Mitchell dealerships in Enterprise picking up and delivering cars and trucks, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.
C. T. also enjoyed watching Auburn football and NASCAR. He was a faithful member of St. Luke United Methodist Church since its inception. All who knew him knew of his genuine love for all people, especially his family, and the love of his life, Marie, to whom he was married for almost 74 years.
Survivors include his wife, Marie P. Singleton; son, Randy Singleton (Nancy) of Enterprise; daughter, Pam Harrell (Ned) of Dora, Alabama; four grandchildren, Holly Koster (Sacha), Hope Moseley (Nicholas), Josh Flowers, and Drew Singleton; six great-grandchildren, Lyra Koster, Evie Koster, Declan Koster, Colt Moseley, Jackson Flowers, and Walter Flowers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church building fund, 201 Heath Street, Enterprise, Alabama, 36330.
