Mrs. Betty D. Johnson of Abbeville, Alabama, passed away on May 19, 2026, at Henry County Health and Rehabiliation. She was 88 years old.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise with Reverend Clint Ellis officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.

Betty was born in Newton, Alabama, to the late J.C. and Mary Ellen Wood. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Wayne Waylon Johnson; daughter, Shelia Rudd; four brothers; one sister; and great-grandchild, Blake Murphy.

Betty devoted her life to her family, first as a mother of four children, and as “Nana” to ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and talking about them with everyone. She also enjoyed having her daily snacks and ice cream.

She is survived by her children, Cherrila Murphy (Robert) of Abbeville, Tracey Coursey of Ozark, and Wayne Johnson of Enterprise; son-in-law, Ronald Rudd; ten grandchildren, Richard Rudd, Kristen Ellis (Clint), Matthew Murphy (Leigh), Megan Gorrie (Mills), Sara Coursey, Emily Coursey, Hayden Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Gage Ettenberger, and Allissa Schaeffer (Jake); eleven great-grandchildren, Madelyn Ellis, Murphy Ellis, Makinley Ellis, Banks Murphy, Ellie Murphy, Mac Murphy, Sims Murphy, Miller Gorrie, James Gorrie, Alice Johnson, and Piper Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her honor to Gentiva Hospice of Dothan.
