Bennie "Sue" Pope

Bennie “Sue” Pope passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019. She was 87. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Kerry Mitchell officiating. Sue and her husband were owners of Pope Mercantile in New Brockton for many years after moving to Alabama from California. She is a member of Calvary Baptist church and is preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Pope; parents, Bennie and Easter Stevens Griswold; two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include her daughters: Pam Vawter (Vernon) of Enterprise, AL and Vicky Young (Nelson) of Eastman, GA; sisters: Pauline Edgar of Trussville, AL and Jean Harper of Dothan, AL; four grandchildren: Angela Sims, Tim Vawter, Michelle Marks and Anna Young; three great-grandchildren: Lauren Bowers, Rylan Vawter and Noah Vawter; numerous nieces and nephews.
