Murray M. Salter

Murray M. Salter, age 73, of New Brockton, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on April 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Coffee County, Murray was born in Enterprise to Ray and Geraldine Salter, who both preceded him in death.

Murray was a devoted member of Fairview Baptist Church, where he found community and fellowship. He dedicated his career to serving as a government food inspector for the USDA, a role that reflected his commitment to public service and quality.

In his personal life, Murray was known for his passion for woodworking and handyman projects, often spending his time crafting beautiful birdhouses. He had a deep love for classic westerns and cherished moments spent with his family, which were the highlight of his life.

Murray is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Susan Salter, and their daughter, Michelle Salter. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Salter (Gail), and sister, Joyce Brunson, who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 2 PM in the sanctuary of Fairview Baptist Church, with a committal service to follow in the Church Cemetery. Brother Wayne Sharpe will officiate the service. Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise will be directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Murray’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to his family and community will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and craftsmanship that will continue to inspire.
